'Tu Hai Mera Sunday' (2016) is quite simply the most heartwarming film I have seen in recent times, one that is too nice but miraculously not syrupy, and has so many moments of laugh-out-loud laughter I couldn't possibly not recommend it! On another level, it is a love letter to the rowdy, rough, cramped yet giant heart of Mumbai. The premise is slight - a ragtag group of four city boys (Barun Sobti, Avinash Tiwary, Nakul Bhalla, Vishal Malhotra) look for an open space in the city to play their weekly game of football - but through it we get a beautiful story about friendship and life. A true ensemble film, first-time director Milind Dhaimade gives equal importance to all stories, just like the city--despite its lack of space--does for all those who call it home.
